Strange OSX 10.3.9 Behavior

Has anyone ever heard of this happening:

One of the user profiles on my mac is suddenly messed up: everything is showing as a negative, for example, the background wallpaper is a negative image, if you open a document in word, everything is black, with white text, etc.., it looks very spooky. I've run virus checks, but nothing located.

Is there a simple way to fix this?

thanks for any help...

Yes! That solved 1/2 the problem, thanks!

I forgot to mention, everything turned black and white instead of color...

do you have another trick up your sleeve to get rid of that?

    thanks!

I have a feeling it has something to do with Universal access in your System Preferences. That command was supposed to toggle it, but it looks like something else is going on.

You nailed it...there was a setting in universal access that says "set display to color" and also toggles the black on white, or white on black...

There is no way my wife would have been poking around in there so how it happened will be a mystery, but thanks so much for the solution.

I wish the answer to all computer problems were that easy...
