Please confrim play count ipod-itunes behavoir

I just want to make sure i got this thing figured out. If i am wrong please correct me.



With itunes 4.x, the play count of the ipod will only update in itunes if it was played from a playlist. (i got that from my forum search)



Now, with itunes 5 & 6, the play-count is updated no matter what. Does this sound and seem right? Thanks



I hope that it is right with 5 & 6 because i do a lot of music listening with my ipod and i use play count extensively.

    I never use playlists on my iPod and it still updated in the iTunes 4 era (or so I believed)
