Powerbook Airport Issue

Hey, I just got my first mac, a powerbook, a couple hours ago and I'm having fun messing around with it at the moment, but I can't get it to connect to my wireless connection. It works fine when plugged into the router, but the wireless connection keeps saying "there was an error joining the airport network". I have a windows computer currently running just fine on the wireless connection, and I was just wondering if there was something that i may be missing. Any help is appreciated.
