Slow eMac

I've had my eMac for over a year now, I had 128MB of ram but installed 512 quite a while ago. Now I'm noticing the computer seems to be going slowly (loading a lot, pausing, taking a long time to switch from program to program).

Could anyone suggest why the computer may be doing this?
