I was just watching coverage of this on CNN when I went home for lunch. Apparently it was circling Portland International, burning off fuel, because it needed to make an emergency landing due to a landing gear malfunction. By the time I had to leave to come back to work, it hadn't yet made any attempt to land.

An emergency landing is not a crash.

According to the CNN video caption (since I have to watch a damn video that hasn't loaded yet and can't just read a story) it has landed safely. G5's just don't crash man.
