What word(s) do you have trouble spelling every time? We all have them. Now's the time to own up to it. Without spell checking.

Mine?

Priviledge. Er,

Privelidge. Er,

Privilege

yeah. Privilege.

    Parrellel. Parallel?

Personel (the one that means staff) Personelle. Personnel.

Satellite. Oh, I guess I've learned that one finally. It seems to be double consonant words that trip me up most.

Posting here with spell check on has actually made me a better speller since I get instant feedback. Unfortunately, it has driven me utterly mad.

while i wrangled this word many years ago, it seems the one i see most often spelled incorrectly is "definitely"

somehow people get "lose" and "loose" mixed up too.

i often have trouble spelling "Monastery" and "separate"

I always just type what ever and right click and chose the top spelling which happens to be

    Seperate or Separate

    Leery or leary

Some adverb forms where I wonder if the vowel before the -ly has changed.

I never forget Eucalyptus because I got that wrong in the 5th grade spelling bee.

Oh yea privilege is evil. That's one of those words that when I try to spell it, even the spell check doesn't know what the hell I'm talking about to make a suggestion.

But mine is exaggerate. It's a 50-50 chance whether I put two gs or twos rs. Sometimes I'll throw in two of each just to be safe.

This isn't so much a spelling error, but why is it that every time I try to type ratio, I put an 'n' on the end and it comes out ration.

Also for some weird reason I always forget the u in favourite and colour.

Oh and I always want to put the u in restaurant after the second 'a' rather than the first.

I used to no be able to spell "apologize". Sometimes a double "p", or an "a" after the "l". I got so sick of right-clicking to correct the spelling I decided to remember how to spell it.

I also find myself typing the wrong form of the same sounding word:

    they're, their, and there

    it's and its

    to, too, and two

I *know* what the appropriate uses are, yet my fingers type the wrong one.

Yeah I do that too. I think it's because people tend to think phonologically rather than visually - when we think, we "talk" to ourselves, rather than seeing words written out in front of us. The primary theory of dyslexia is that dyslexics have trouble sounding out words mentally. So I suppose the fact that we misspell homonyms means that we don't have dyslexia.

In the typing error catagorey, uh catagory, category, , I seem to be constitutionally incapable of typing "from" without first typing "form". My own little teh, I guess.

That's where ctrl+t can be your friend (place the cursor between the "o" and "r" in "form" and press ctrl+t and POOF! The letters are switched!
