FP iMac & dialup internet problems

My new iMac is great, but one thing I have noticed in both Earthlink, which I'm trying out since I get 30 days free, and AOL is that internet connections are much slower than they were with my older iMac. Do any other FP owners have the same problem? I also have a lot of disconnects from Earthlink. I'm not sure if it's my modem or if it's some problem with OS X and Internet Connect. Thanks.

    i have verizon dsl and use aol for mail. i find that aol has trouble responding to os x. whenever i send an email, 8 out of 10 times, it will hang for a loooooong time, and then come back with a message, "the system has not responded." in fact, i am so sick of it, i have started using a non-aol account for mail (and have no problems with my internet connection outside of aol).

    That's interesting. It might be the phone lines in this area. Earthlink did say it could be line noise. Oh well. Hopefully I'll get cable access soon. Thanks for the reply.
