Alarm Clock in Apple?

in Mac Software edited November 2014
I`ve been sleeping in lately and I need a new alarm clock.

Does anyone use a software program to wake their Apple up to the sound of music?

Any recommendations for any software?

You can download an alarm clock Widget if you're using Tiger. It works with iTunes so you set the song/playlist you want to wake you up then turn the iTunes volume way down. When the alarm clock starts, the volume is low then slowly rises to full volume. It's a very nice way to wake up if you play soft music rather than some terrible sounding alarm

It's there but in my opinion it sucks. I have this same problem, and I didn't find any respectable free alarm clock. I suggest you use a cell phone or watch.

Here is how you do it.

    1) Open iCal

    2) Select date in which you want to wake up.

    3) Label it "Wake up"

    4) Input the time you want to wake up.

    5) Under the "alarm" section, select open file.

    6) Find the song you want to wake up to from your iTunes folder.

    7) Select the time again.

    Done.

    Test it out.

At the time you select, the alarm will launch iTunes and start playing the song.

I am trying to figure out if I can select a playlist file.

    I do something very similar.

Instead of calling an mp3 itself, I have it run an Automator script which turns my computer's volume all the way up, switches to a playlist with a particular song in it, which is set to repeat infinitely (just incase), and then it tells iTunes to Play.

    Works like a charm.

Do it the same way but create a short script and have iCal launch the script.

Here is the script I use:

    tell application "iTunes"

    \tplay playlist "Wakeup"

    end tell

If you have used AppleScript before you can add things to this like adjusting the volume or having the computer talk to you "Hey, get a move on!" and so on. iCal is a great way to launch scripts at predetermined times.

I'm still a little leery of having the computer wake up so that it can perform the alarm function. When I really need it to work I set the Energy Saver panel to dim the screen very quickly but to never put the computer to sleep.

You can also use an ipod if you have it. I never realized it before but they have an alarm feature. I just took some unpowered speakers and used them. It worked pretty well

    Howdy partner!

I found this app named Alarmy on the App Store the other day. The app seems to be pretty good and serves its purpose. I've heard that the app has spread worldwide as it's as effective as many say it is. The unique feature of the app is that it “forces” people to get out of bed to turn it off.

Here's how it works: all you need to do is take a picture of an area in your house (probably one of a room far away from your bed), save the picture, and set the alarm. When the alarm goes off, just take a picture again of the area saved, and it turns off on its own.

Download Alarmy- Sleep If U Can and get to work on time every day!
