iBook and Powerbook Sale

in Current Mac Hardware edited January 2014
At my University computer store, the prices for at least one type of iBook and Powerbook have been significantly decreased. iBook 600 combo drive now lists for $899 (down from $1399), while powerbook 550 G4 now lists for $1799 (down from $2069). This sale states "While supplies last", with a limit of one for each non-department order.

Is this happening at other university computer stores? What does it mean?

My friend checked the supply of iBooks last week with his distributor and told me that iBook supplies were starting to drop. So your news doesn't really surprise me.

Usually this means that an update is on the way. A needed one I might add.

It means you buy that ibook and sell it new, unopened on ebay and pocket a cool couple hundred bucks.

Nothing like that at any University of Illinois campus, that's for sure. I'd buy in a minute with prices like that; at that rate, you can actually afford to upgrade underpowered hardware in another year or two.

Jesus, if you aren't buying those iBooks at that price and reselling them, you need your head smacked. Hard.

Seriously, I can't even believe those prices are so low. That's the easiest money you'll ever make.
