I had to throw away my mom's apple pro mouse because it died. It would night light up on any computers I plugged it into. If i smacked the mouse, the light would come on for a second or two, only to vanish once again.
Sounds like you just had a loose connection there.
BTW, has anyone found a way to get rid of the disgusting brown gunk that builds up on the inside where the two halves of the "shell" meet? Or is is just me?
