Oh my god I feel sick...
... and like the stupidest person in the world right now. I was sitting at my desk loading a RtCW level on my 3-week-old TiBook with my Sony headphones on. My mom's cat walks into my room and heads over towards the window. I get up and go over to move the cat out of the room, as she pisses on stuff and makes a mess.
MY HEADPHONES WERE STILL PLUGGED IN.
I felt a sickening, sinking feeling in my stomach as I heard my TiBook being jerked off the desk. It fell 3 feet to the carpeted floor, landing on its side. The damn headphones unplugged, but only after pulling my $2400 computer to its potential death. The Wolf level finished loading and everything seemed to work. I was thanking God with half my mind but inwardly dreading what damage I would uncover with the other half. In short, nothing was damaged except for the plastic edge of the frame underneath the slot for the DVD drive - about 3/4th of the way across the slot going from left to right, the thin silver plastic part cracked vertically and the paint flaked off. The thin area bent inward and upward. It does not interfere with DVD injection or ejection, but it looks bad. It's not a structurally important part either, but is there anywhere where I can order a replacement plastic piece that runs around the outside of the computer? Does Apple offer replacements??
This is the most horrible thing that has ever happened to me.
Thanks,
stjobs

Not cheap, but then again your TiBook might be worth it.
i once dropped my powerbook bronze on a bus!
my backpack strap snapped, and gravity mercilessly hurled my laptop to the corner of a bus stairway! the dvd rom drive was out for a while..but it worked later on. but there was a gaping crack on the side of the computer.
i think this was one of the reasons why the pbook died some weeks later. ever since then, i take extra care of my new ibook. i also got new bag.
Also, I've dropped my Pismo several times. Still works fine.
cheer up, it could have been much worse.
(btw, i someone mentioned iPhones, wireless headphones, in the future hardware forum. if it's true, it could be a solution for such headphone-caused accidents.)

Sweet jesus lord, switch lives with me.
the tilte of this post was also hilarious
sorry about your computer though, bummer
You've lived a good life so far it seems.
I imagine you're upset though, probably baby that thing all the time, and with one 2 second brain freeze... you're picking up your TiBook from the floor!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery. You and your TiBook.
His Stereo and PC has a big plastic bag covering it.
It even jumped through the open window of my old car and wet my stereo.
It could have been worse. Your cat could have actually pissed ON your new TiBook out of sheer feline jealousy, or ripped off some of the keys (someone's cat did that - over on the MacFixit boards)

A coworker in my office came in one day with a look on her face like someone in her family had passed away. She took me to a corner and told me that her dog had actually ate a few keys from her laptop's keyboard. I couldn't help but laughing. She was scared stiff of what our boss would say. I convinced her just to tell him. He thought it was the funniest thing he had ever seen. The chewed keyboard with a few keys missing remains tacked up on the bulletin board to this day as a reminder not to let pets compute!
HAHA!

One guy bought the 500Mhz model from the company I work at, he came back a couple of days later with it..
His cat had tipped a cup of coffe over it, toasted..
And no warranty of course, he was *so* happy.
However, the following week the little cheap-O speaker started to slowly crackel and die. (I still haven't replaced the speaker, I just use headphones on the road and monsoon speakers at home.)
I know, it's like dropping the baby but, It will be Ok! Good luck TJ
