30th Anniversary Mac? Well technically no...

30th Anniversary Apple?

What could Steve be hyping about this early?

Last time apple hyped something up we got the iMac G4, which some considered to be the 25th Anniversary Mac

The TAM is a very special machine, if you've ever seen one.

It wouldn't surprise me if Apple would produce a Thirtieth Anniversary Macintosh. It would be an AIO, similar to the iMac, but with luxury features such as a teakwood bezel, special audio system, dark chrome ("gunmetal") accents. All the plastic would also be a dark gray color. Technologically, it would be a pretty standard machine. Price would be high.

It would be a really interesting design I am sure...

Well, let's see what happens. It is a long way to April 1.

    79 days, 20 hours, 16 seconds!!!!!

    Woot!!!

it's intriguing that the TAM had stuff like TV tuners....

if the new TAM were to be something like the ultimate all-in one computer with something like a media center... wonders how it'll sit in relation to the rest of the product lines then

Give me a 30" iMac and I'll be happy

they better not be $10,000 like the old one though

I would like the TAMII to have a new design (Like the old one, it was SO slick) and be black again. Leather everywhere, and some kind of nice BOSE addition again..

    Oh.. it was SO nice..

I would prefer a B&O mac like the prototype actually

But bose's got a long history with macs now

It would be something Apple haven´t done in a long time.

    Beige Box.

Actually I would like to see some really cool mock-ups of a Beige Box Mac.

It sounded more like he (they) had no plans on an anniversary Mac to me, or even a computer per-se. Which leads me to believe that we may see something new from Apple on April 1st, but I don't think it will be a computer. I think we'll see Apple take a new direction, and it should be exciting. Maybe the HDPTV thing with media center is something they are still putting finishing touches on? Something new, extraordinary, and fabulous for their 30th year.

30 inch iMac, an inch for every year?

put a TV tuner on that...

Well, they don't have to call it an iMac,

Or how about something bigger, plasma-screened mac then?

If they do make a new TAM II as you gys are calling it, I would hope that they would stretch things a little and go for a high-end machine that would be snapped up by hungry little fans like us.

    Dream Machine

B&O sound is a must; surround sound with wireless speakers

20-inch monitor is fine, wide screen

up to 2 external monitors (3 with the TAM in the middle)

    dual HDs

    dual layer DVD

    1GB RAM

4 USB2 (2 easily accessible in the front)

3 FW400 (at leasst one easily accessible in the front)

    1 FW800 (it's not dead, yet)

wireless, ergonomic keyboard with programmable (color LCD) keys, touch pad

    BT mighty mouse

2 expansion slots (not including the video card)

    iSight

video and audio in and out (variety of ports)

    TV

    ----

around $5000 or less (the last one was out of everyone's reach)

    No harm in dreamin'!

Remember the price tag on the TAM though. I doubt I would be getting a machine designed for nostalgia. THe last on was a fortune. With inflation I would guesstimate that comparatively they were selling a $15,000.00+ computer back then.

An iMac with HD tuner built-in -- 23" (or better yet, the higher quality 24" panels in use by other manufacturers)

Slap a couple of expresscard slots on it for future I/O and a 256MB version of the video card, and make it black, with a polished metal rear panel...

Whatever the hell they want as long as it's shiny...

I think the Mac TV (black Mac/Trinitron TV all-in-one) was originally supposed to be the 10th anniversary Mac, but it was never marketed as such (and hardly sold at all).

    On April 1st...

A limited edition 30th anniversary BLACK iMac.

    Simply named the "Mac 30"

Eventually, all iMacs will be renamed as simply Macs (when they get their next redesign).
