iPhoto 06 Photo Roll viewing ?

Hello,

In iPhoto 06 is there any way of viewing a list of the film-rolls, sorted by Date ? I know that the main-area does show this, but what I'd like is to get a simple list of the film-rolls that are in the system, and then being able to click between them, and to drag files from the main library to these film-rolls without having to scroll endlessly up and down the library (scrolling past all the photo-thumbs in the proccess)

I've had a look around but I couldn't find this functionality.

I don't know if this helps you at all, but when viewing all the thumbnails with the film rolls shown you can option-click on one of the film roll expand/collapse triangles and all film rolls will collapse.

This makes it easier to scroll from top to bottom without seeing any thumbnails. You can manually expand or collapse individual film rolls as well, making it possible to select individual images and drag to another roll.

Thanks that did help somewhat, but I would still like iPhoto to be able to display the rolls in a simple list. Maybe as a floating-type pallette that you can move around and close when you don't need it. I have 11.000 photos in my library and on extended trips each roll contains more photos that I would like, and I'm now going through the library to split the larger rolls into smaller ones. As some cameras I've used in the past have different dates and times, they some times needs to be moved from one roll to another, and this does involve quite a bit of scrolling. On my PowerBook 1.25 this becomes very taxing on the system, even though most of the rolls will be "closed".

Why don't you create albums rather than re-create the wheel with rolls? You can even drag a roll to the album list and a new album will be created automatically with all the contents from that roll. That might be a lot easier for you.
