24 is back!
Who watched last night's first two episodes of the season premiere? Thoughts? I find it interesting that the Russians are involved in the plot, at least so far, against America (or is it just against Jack?) this time. At any rate, based on the pace at which things have started, this season looks like it will live up to the hype.
BTW, this is my first time watching it in HD, which makes everything about the show all the more better.

Stupid FOX still hasn't finished Prison Break so I'm not watching anything else until that's finished.
After that, I'll download all of 24 immediatly after the finialle broadcasts to maks sure FOX doesn't pull this crap again!

Love 24, watched it for the first time last night...great show
I am watching it in 480i on a HD feed which means I am watching the widescreen version...TV shows like this are sooo much better in widescreen and HD
Action Chloe! Crazy irritable Chloe! Shit that makes no sense whatsoever! Jack "I've personally saved the lives of the president, every person in LA twice, and averted a thermonuclear holocaust and I'm always right about everything but I'm always on the verge of being arrested and executed" Bauer!
Every level of the US government riddled with long term terrorist moles! CTU crippled by infighting and junior high soap opera! Sleek, sinister European masterminds in dark and large screen display filled rooms! Massive diversionary terrorist operations! Every major plot point happening with 2 seconds of being too late!
Now all I need is a major Edgar Stiles snit and I'm locked, loaded and ready to go!
A bit over the top for me, but it's holding my interest so far.
Not sure if I can last the whole season though.

Well, if "over the top" is problem for you at this point, you might want to just quit while you're ahead.
"24" uses "over the top" the way most shows use dialogue.
...um, popcorn anyone?
I'm suprised they haven't killed her off. What a HORRIBLE actress. I mean really, she could at least TRY to put some inflection in her voice. Her monotone is killing me!

Is it just me, or is 24 something we've seen, well, at least 24 times before? It's the same old good guys versus the bad guy story, the main character saving the city/country/world somehow every episode and having some female friend whom he loves, but kinda keeps away to "protect" her from all the evil in his world...
...um, popcorn anyone?
Ummm...every action or adventure movie and show uses the same basic fomula...
the whole point of TV is that the worst imaginable situation can be neatly cleaned up in 30 or 60 minutes...or over 24 episodes in this case.

She and the presedent are new...the presedent in the last two seasons has served his term and is out that is all I will say as I dont want to spoil it for any tivo-ers.
I like 24. It is certainly an over the top shoot em up but it is fun. It's certainly not great acting or riveting plots but it is much more captivating than your average action movie IMO. I've been watching it now that the reruns come on on A & E for four hours every Monday morning. Record and watch later. I've seen the 2nd and 3rd seasons now and the 4th is on these days.
I'll miss Palmer, I liked his character a lot. Can't say I'll really miss Michelle.

Chloe is Mary Lynn Rajskub. She's a great comic actress who has kicked around on things like "Mr. Show" , "The Ben Stiller Show" and a bunch of supporting parts in movies.. Kind of an LA hipster on the fringes of the mainstream entertainment industry.
I think it's great that a show like "24" would put somebody like Rajskub in the cast, and even write the character to conform to her hang-dog/deadpan/irritable persona. One of the producers must be a fan and thought it would be comic relief, but you can never shake the feeling that she's wandered in from a different show and is sort of pissed off because of it.
To see her do her thing in her natural habitat, check out "Girls Guitar Club", a short she did with Karen Kilgariff a few years ago (I'd link to her site but it's currently bandwidth exceeded, just do a search). It's hilarious, and, even more hilariously, she's pretty much "Chloe", just without the cool job.

well yeah, I know, and I'm not saying that it's only 24 that has this plot, but 24 seems to be very popular as evidenced by my anecdotal collection of memories during the times spent in torrent sites...
I missed out on all the other seasons... I figure I'll start with 5th one.. so far so good.
BTW, the CTU gets blown up in the 4th episode..
just kiddin'...

Nah, Chloe has been around at least for the last two seasons, which is all I've watched so far. I haven't been able to complete a season yet though.
So far this season has most of the previous seasons' plot accents; a CTU mole, Bauer must've done the bad thing, Bauer's family is in trouble/could be killed, Bauer is under arrest until Samwise Gamgee says otherwise, even though he's hot on the trail of some guy who's about to do a really bad thing with a nuke/bioweapon/whatever.
It's the same plot skeleton as the previous 2 seasons, just different ornaments decorating the plot branches.
[edit]
This is the first time I've caught it in HD as well. I'm sure my wife will finish out the season.

Actually CTU did get blown up in season 2. Right after Jack rejoined with that one terrorist group by killing a govt witness and then bringing his decapitated head to the terrorists and prove that he was still a righteous terrorist. Suspension of disbelief may at times be required with this show.

More like the forcible gagging, binding and summary execution of disbelief, but I think that's a large part of the goofy giddy fun of the thing.
