Apple to host special event in Cupertino on Feb 28

Given that Apple has allegedly stopped bulk Mac mini shipments, I'm wondering if Feb. 28th might have Mac minis after all.

The real question is what Apple could do to make their price points with Intel's Core chips. Practically speaking, I think they need the chips with 1 MB of L2 cache to hit $499 and still run appreciably faster than the PowerPC versions. It'd be nice if there was a Celeron Duo! But I don't know if those will be ready even a few weeks after the Feb. 28 event.

Looks eerily familiar to the shot before the 5G was announced...

Here is the good link at macshrine.com and the picture:

Youc can see what may be a dock connector on the right side covered by tape and Chinese characters on it which says "This side", and a sticker with the part number MB719Z/A.

Blowing the picture up with Graphic Converter in 10% increments several times, then using unsharp mask, it sure looks like the part number is M8718Z/A not MB718Z/A.

Any photoshop experts care to do a better examination?

This looks like the monitor from an old iMac G4.

I forgot about this, even though I've been talking about it with friends, because I'm not going this year, but the PMA trade show in Orlando is taking place fron the 26th through the 28th of Feb.

    Apple is an exhibitor.

I wonder if the "Event" might tie into the show?

Possibly, as when Aperture was announced, with other products, during the Photo Expo here in NYC.

Yes, and there's a plastic ledge all the way around it to grab when moving the screen. It's NOT an iMac G4 screen.

    God,

    If I was either Steve...

I would lie awake at night and read all of the apple forums.

If you are in the know it must be too much fun.

I'm not sure what that connector is. If it's experimental, it wouldn't be the final one anyway.

I know, but, as I said, it looks like one.
