Intel Ad watered down

Posted:
in General Discussion edited January 2014
Was watching Channel 5 last night in uk. Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the Intel ad appear on screen, but then realised they had changed it.

It doesn't have the same bite and I imagine non-mac people saying "So what?".

There is no "impulse to buy" feeling with the new ad. What does everybody else feel about the new ad?

Notice the omission of the word "boring" when referring to PCs.

Did they have to water things down for the UK market?

*shudders* yeah, the sentences seem too long to have the right rhythm.

Perhaps they're trying to prevent being sued for false advertisement.

The new voiceover seems downright sleepy. The original version has far more punch.

Anyone have a reason for the change? Some international advertising law or something?

Technically, "boring" was never in the ad to begin with. The word was "dull", but I guess that doesn't really matter too much

Apple's original ad was arrogant trash. Apple's superior OS makes them better, not belonging to the creative elite.

That is one very bad rewrite. It always seems like that UK versions of commercials or always different then the US versions. Maybe the UK made apple change it for some reason.

I'm pretty sure that in the UK, you are not allowed to make subjective comparisons with your competitors. You are allowed to state simple, non-disputable facts, such as "our product is cheaper than theirs", but not subjective things such as "our product is more interesting than theirs".

I like the UK version better it is more honest, but the delivery/voice could have been better.

No, that's Kiefer Sutherland who plays Jack Bauer.
