Flash 8 busted Safari...

I installed Flash 8 and now Flash movies won't play in Safari. They still play fine in Firefox. I reinstalled the Flash player in Safari and no luck. I have an Intel iMac.

"The page ?Flash » Squares 2? has content of MIME type ?application/x-shockwave-flash?, but you don?t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type. A plug-in should be available on this page:

http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer

Do you want to open the page?"

I went and installed it again, but Safari doesn't seem to realize it's installed...

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Philip

For now, you have to open Safari using Rosetta to get the Flash plugin to work.

Check the "Run in Rosetta" box in Safari's Get Info.

But it USED to work in Safari on my Intel iMac... I played Squares 2 all the time (great game btw). Was it automatically set to Rosetta before and somehow unset?

for those whom are having problems with Flash Player 8

This is what I did and all now works normally

    Repair the permissions

It screws a few things when it is installing

What do you mean by repair the permissions?

    Goto Applications/Utilties/Disk Utility

In the bottom left corner of the Disk Utility window you will see two buttons

    One to verify permissions

    One to Repair permissions

Use the Repair Permissions one and it will repair the permissions for any app or file that are not correct.

This inturn will help things to work correctly.

This is how I got the same problem solved for me

If you have any further problems let me know and I will help sort them out for you.

you need to download the Flash 8 Preview for Intel Macs, which you can find here:
