The battery won't charge when plugged in. My friend said it was charging, but she bumped the power cord and now it won't charge at all. Could this be that she needs a new cord or would the connecter inside need to be taken out and sanded down?

check connection on power cord carefully (ie, joints between thin cord and power block and connection between power head and thin cord)
Any fraying could indicate a problem
if this is the problem, you can either go DIY and fix it, or buy a new power cord.
If this is not the problem, you may want an apple specialist to look at your computer
