desktop replacement laptop
Do you think that Apple would make a 19" desktop replacement? I
read a story online awhile back about some asian manufacturer that
made a 19" laptop screen. They didn't announce who would be
using them though.
Currently I have a 17" powerbook & while I love it I'd still pick up a
19 incher if Apple offered it. It would be especially sweet if it had a
fullsize keyboard & the new 200 gig hardrives I've been reading
about. Some other additional options like Blu-ray drives or those new
Sandisk flash drives would be great options as well.
Approximately 95% of the time I use my laptop while plugged-in
anyway so battery life isn't as much of a concern as powerful
processing.

That 200 GB drive is 4200 RPM, btw. Not sure if you want to deal with it.
The imac 20" screen size would be perfect on a laptop configuration.
Imac is easy to move around but not portable. where is the battery? where is the built in keyboard? so, to assume the imac would be the real desktop replacement is wrong.
I agreed that attach the 17" PB to a 30" Cinema display is nice, but the problem is that the cinema displays are not portable.
Anyway the point is that a 19" or 20" laptop would be a dream come true for editors and designers on the road. i would buy one in a heartbeat.

Most of my freelance work involves me taking my laptop to a client's
house. Stuff like taking family photos, wedding reception dvds,
restoring old photos, etc.
Also, I wouldn't upgrade until Adobe updates CS3 to a universal
binary. By then I hope that 200 GB drive has 5400 or 7200 rpm models.
