perhaps the aprils fools joke is releasing nothing? maybe by getting the hype up, and making everyone think that something big will happen on apple's birthday, by delaying it or letting it not happen at all, its thier trick to us..

there are no april fool's jokes. the only fools are the ones who get so excited all the time about possible apple events instead of just waiting for them to happen.

We all love Apple, it's why we post here, but Apple is a Corporation. They take things very seriously (as demonstrated by their legal department). They also have stockholders who also take things very seriously.

Not releasing something on a Saturday isn't an April Fool's joke. It's not like Apple sent out invitations to the press and made public announcements that they would release something on April 1. Steve Jobs simply mentioned that it would be Apple's 30th Anniversary on April 1. It was something worth mentioning, that's all. People read too much into it.

As I said in other threads about this, Apple does not release new, major products without inviting the press. They might do speed bumps to existing machines this way, just closing and reopening the store and updating the website, but the Intel transition needs big press from Apple. The amount of free PR Apple gets from a major product announcement is huge.

That alone means that releasing new products on a Saturday is unlikely for Apple. Many tech websites do not update on the weekend and fewer people watch the news.

It's nice to think Apple might surprise us or wow us with some major new product but it's unrealistic to think that they would do it at the expense of some major PR and exposure.

oh well of course. no corporation would be taken seriously if it conducted in such a way. it was simply hopeful wishing.

If Apple wanted to it would be the kind of corporation that could somehow tie in new product(s), April's fool, and the 30th anniversary in a really funny yet snazzy and professional way. If they wanted to... which they obviously didn't
