Hard drive question

ok so i bought a hard drive and case to make an external hard drive it worked



now i have no need for an external hard drive



what i want to know is can i use this hard drive inside my computer as a normal hardrive? it is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 it use Ultra ATA conection and my motherboard use Ultra ATA conection, but i can find know info on wether internal and extenal hard drives are one in the same

    Yes, it will work. I do it all the time.



    Things to look out for:

    1) An IDE cable has specific ends. Make sure you have the correct one attached to the motherboard and the Master or Slave connected to the drive.

    2) Set the jumpers on the drive to reflect the Master/Slave connection you used.

    3) It is a good idea to reformat the drive though it is not necessary. Many external drives are formatted with FAT32 for compatibility and you will get more performance if you reformat into the OS's native format. NTSF for windows, HSF+ for Mac.
