where should i buy my Powerbook: direct from an apple store, or from online reseller?
where should i buy my Powerbook: direct from an apple store, or from an online reseller (which includes bundles and the like)? please keep in mind price does matter somewhat (cheaper is better), and i am interested in things like shipping charges (whether these online charges end up adding a lot to the total price), warranties from different resellers etc. i am interested in a PB g4 DVI 800mhz, OR PB g4 DVI 667 mhz with airport card installed and 256 megs of ram extra. thanks.

There are pros and cons to doing it online/offline (So to speak) but frankly going in is all the same you can usually get better bargins going into a shop (Not nesecerely and Apple store). Tho having said that I could have got one of those nice firefly drives if I purchased it online for free...
Hope that info helps, oh yeah and if you can get the 800Mhz model, its mighty cool <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />
The concensus was, I believe, order online unless you need to walk out the door with the merchandise. You save taxes and get freebies and/or discounts from online resellers. With a $2500 purchase, taxes are significant.
What I did: On Wednesday I went to the Apple Store in Buffalo to touch and evaluate everything - make my purchasing decision. Then I ordered my new iBook (which arrived yesterday!!) from Amazon.com.
If you hurry you can still get Amazon's $100 off and free shipping deal. It ends today or tomorrow and is good on any laptop purchase. The free shipping is UPS ground. You can upgrade the shipping for extra $$. I paid $40 for UPS Next Day. Taking that $40 into account, I figure I saved roughly $170 over buying from the Apple Store in Buffalo. I had to wait two days to get it, though. Maybe for some, getting it right then and there is worth $170.
This and other tools you can find on <a href="http://www.dealmac.com" target="_blank">www.dealmac.com</a> can help.
