Apple Microphone

Some questions about the Mac microphone...

I understand that you need to buy a special microphone for the mac, one with a power source, is this correct? I am interested in getting a microphone, and using speakable items, and voice recognition applications, as well as recording my voice for email.

Does anyone use a microphone? Where can I get hold of one, and how much should I expect to pay?

    I believe Apple still uses Line Level mics. Try <a href="http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imic/index.html"; target="_blank">Griffin Technology's iMic</a>

I believe they have a mic that works if you can use USB.

If you buy a cheap microphone that needs a preamplifier you won't hear anything plugging it into a Line Leve Mac Mic input

This product looks better than I thought. I will look out for it on ebay.
