I recently downloaded a six part audiobook (not from iTunes) and for some reason i am unable to transfer them and put them onto iTunes. They are mp3 formatted and i have no idea why it isnt working. Any help would be great.

Try prefrences > advanced > importing (import as mp3) that should fix it I think.
That only applies to tracks imported (ripped) from CDs.
It works for any track in the iTunes library, save the encrypted ones, you right click any track and you should see an entry to the effect of reencoding track to your preferred format.

The way i fixed it was to re-encode them again.
