Connecting Latop to TV

Is it possible to hook my iBook up to my TV? Will a AV to RCA cable work for this? How do I make it read the TV as a display?

Yes, the AV->RCA cable will work.

And to make it recognize it... plug it in, then either tell it to Detect Displays (System Preferences -> Displays), or, what most people do, simple close the lid, and open it, and it'll do the detection when it wakes up.

    That's it.

Well I bought one (17 bucks seems like a lot for a cord haha) but unfortunately it does not work. Able to return it though. I tried both ways you said and it just does not work. Then I went on Apple and they have a cord that plugs into the display port (for a monitor) that goes into an S Video, so that one should work.

Riiiiiiight, I'm sorry, what AV port did you mean, if not the display port? That's the only video port on the laptop.

I know with some laptops (and with iPods etc) you can plug the AV directly into the headphone jack then connect it to the TV through that.
