My G5 was heavy, yeah. That thing was a BEAST. Used it for a while for Reason (electronic music). The G5 single demolished the dualie G4 in terms of the number of synth generation tracks it could pump out. Got some amazing sounds out of it (Reason, Rewire, Ableton Live). Old skool (plastic frame) 20" cinema display (which had 3 dead pixels!!!!).

I didn't mind the handles, they were okay. But I nearly broke my back when I had to take a bus to the dealer and then lug the machine back in it's box (and the 20" cinema display)! back to the dealer to sell it 2nd hand [long story]...

You have some nice gear mate. Nice.

WTF do you do for a living? What do you use your G5 and 30" for? Just curious.

Time for a MacBook Pro for you though

Actually you know what, I really do not like the Macbook pro at all. Its just too big for me. It might be 1" thick but the thing still has a massive footprint.

You'd laugh if I told you about 80% of what I do on my Dual + 30" is word and internet based! Well thats what I do. The rest is web, video, photos, photoshop etc. I wanted the 30" because I thought that it would allow me to be productive in the way I carry out my day to day tasks and it does.

As for what I do: Law student; help with parents company; and also a secretary of a committee.

Dude, totally. What's up with that? Actually making the plastic molds, spray painting, making your own power button out of whatever it was the dude used...... Glueing it all together seamlessly and stuff. It's So WRONG not to use Photoshop or 3D !!

Nice, but you got the colors wrong. It's red.

Now what if Apple really really thought different? Side view shown.

    Here it is:

It's the Mac Pro Invisa . It will do all of your work for you without showing it to you, so you needn't worry about it at all.

I like the Hal 2000 look above.

Ironically, it has all come true!! All the Intel Macs have iSights and a lot of laptops have webcams built in. So we are really being constantly observed by the computer through a round lens built into the surface of some digital device!! wow. Not bad, the prediction of the book/film was just off by a few years.

Just hope that there will be a smaller version, in terms of the size of a case - the current PM is huge.

I like it. Kinda looks like a more stylized version of the 80k/9k PowerMacs. As for the Power Mac case size, it's actually quite shallow for a workstation.

See, I am unsure how to take this mock-up?

Especially as you are also pimping it out over on the emac rwplacement thread?

Over there, it seems as if the unit is seen head-on, looking at the screen?

But now here you are telling us this is a side view?

    Shabby bra, shabby?

That is honestly a scary frickin computer. I don't know what movie I'm thinking of, but it reminds me of a sort of spider robot that kills shit. Or the iRobot guys. Or something....

    Scaring me.
