Upgrading my Hard Drive on my MacBook: how to reinstall OS?
My new 120 GB Hard Drive is arriving today and I'm preparing for the process of physicially installing it and then putting the OS and my files back on it.
The physicial installation seems like a breeze (thanks to the excellent installation videos at www.owc.com).
Couple of questions:
[1] Once I get the drive in, do I just insert the OS CD that came with my computer while restarting the computer to get OSX on the computer? I don't have a .Mac account.
[2] In terms of getting my files on my MacBook, since I won't be able to do a Migration Assistant (don't have an external enclosure for the old drive), if I copy my "Home" folder to an external drive, will that bring over all my documents, iTunes stuff, addressbook and iCal, and Firefox bookmarks? Or should I indivdually backup those programs?
I'm not concerned about reinstalling programs from scratch or dealing with restoring individual program preferences...
