LaCie firewire drives....

Has anyone had any problems connecting 3 Lacie firewire external drives together?

I had 3 firewire drives connected and it seems like the drives were hanging when I tried copying stuff from one to another. I could only connect two at a time...

Surely you should've bought just one big one...

You probably want to invest in a hub.

Above poster is correct though: 1 bridgeboard is better than 3.

I have two firewire devices (HD + DVD burner) daisy chained and I copy between them without a problem. I don't see why three drives would cause a problem. Does it only happen when a specific one of your drives is attached or is it the number that makes it hang? What I mean by that is have you tried the drives in various combinations and it is always when you attach all three that it hangs?

I have a firewire hub that the three lacie drives plugged into.

Are they bus powered, or do they have their own power supplies?

Does the hub have a power supply - if so, make sure its plugged in and not using bus power.

My bet is that, if two work fine, but three don't, you've got too much power draw somewhere.

If all that fails, and the usual firmware/OS updates don't, if you have a second FW port, even FW800, try that for the third.

Yeah, that hub probably won't be able to give enough power for all three devices at a time.

I've twice had problems with my LaCie, resulting in exchanging it. sticking with glyph. no problems yet.
