There is no need to worry about the white dulling or turning yellow. If you know anyone that knows anything about painting cars, just take your MacBook/iBook to them and have them buff the case making sure to tape off all the ports and vents and such... My iPod was looking like crap not too long ago, I whipped out my Rubbing compound, and polishing glaze and WHAM! Just like new... So if your white getting "old and worn looking" is your only concern, no worries.
And while I'm on the post. How hot does the MacBook actually get? I will be getting one here shortly no matter what, but I would like to know if I should purchase an iLap from Raindesigninc.com (http://raindesigninc.com/ilap.html).
By the way, go white, they catch everyone's eye.
al i can say is that it will get very hot running simple things such as safari after about 45 miniutes.
I'll be updating to 2GB of RAM and I plan to be doing a lot of photo editing with Fireworks and Using Garage Band a lot also... So I haven't really read up a lot on this heat issue... might you be able to educate me? Is it serious enough to harm the system?

Mine doesn't. And as has been said: Safari's "simpleness" depends very much on what it has to do. Loading twenty pages simultaneously in tabs and windows, rendering Flash, JavaScript, DHTML and loading the Java plugin (and then executing code) plus maybe one or the other Quicktime movie being played, Safari certainly has more to do than when you open _one_ page of 3 KB of HTML-code. "simple things such as safari" is _not_ a good benchmark for "simple".
ok if you dont care about features cross off the macbook pro...depens on what kind of kid/adult you are.. if you happen to love the matte black finish (which i have) then go for it. but if you want a cheaper substitute and you dont mind the whit go for the white.

it will get plenty hot..but garage band and i would think pro apps will bring up the fire (heat) and no it will not hurt your mac in any way....but maybe your legs..
in this forum i am setting up a discussion about anything that has to do with mabooks and only macbooks....i will answere questions if you like.....post up your kind of macbook and its stats or anything...i just want to make a cool thread that has like 150 replies!
I own a White one and it's pretty acceptable - it's a computer at the end of the day - the thing runs hot. Very Hot. Hotter than any other piece of toy I've ever owned...
While the MacBook is nice, it's not perfect, the WiFi adapter still is retarded in that if you put the laptop to sleep or shutting the cover kills the WiFi connection forcing you to have to manually reconnect...

Oh man... I just got sunburn on my legs last night from mowing lawn. lol Good thing I don't have it yet, and when I do I'll have the iLap.

BRussell's question falls into this category and yet you do not answer. Tsk, Tsk. You're letting us down, Dani.
