If you have to ask the question you probably should not be using it.
Not so much a problem from a virus sense but than again you never know.
If you are sensible about filesharing then there should not be a real problem computer wise but then again it is a illegal activity (depending on what you download) and you are exposing yourself to potential prosecution.
I guess the answer I am trying to say is if you are aware of and prepared to accept the risks both legal and computer you should have no problem.
Neither Official BitTorrent or Azureus comes with spy/addware on them, of course no one can guarantee downloaded content quality for you. If you only download from trusted sources(linux distros / podcasts) you should be safe.
