Cure for G4 Loudness!
This is a sure cure for the new G4's loudness!
1)Open the Case
2)Locate the fans
3)Follow the fans to the MB where it connects for power
4)Pull the plug
*Note*
-The computer can now be run virtually silent, but only for 5 min at a time without going to sleep for an additional 5 min...or you could hook up a liquid nitrogen cooling system
I was the first to figure this out, do I get a prize?!

Alternatively, one might try replacing the power supply fans with quieter devices.
But don't take my word for it.
OMG, I'm posting like EmAn now.
PS: Thanks for the link to that site about that fan replacement
But I suppose the G4s run just a tad hotter.
A liquid N2 cooling system would also let you overclock your G4 to 2 GHz. Just make sure it's always immersed in liquid N2 at all times.

Besides needing a large amount of N2 because it would just evaporate. When using a N2 cooling system how do you pump it across the processor?

Stop EmAning!
I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make to PM noise, but I might want to look at other avenues of silencing a computer before I resort to reducing airflow over the PS or CPU.
Alternatively you could just use your computer in a cold room. I've noticed that the machine is considerably noisier on hot days (still not terrible, IMHO).

Cold room huh? Almost like if you put ur computer infront of an AC vent? hmmmm
I'm still working on making the new G4 COMPLETLY silent...so far my theory is to pull the plug on it...its to my belief that if I do that no sound will come from the computer at all...cept maybe for the electrons running around on the MB from the lithium battery inside! I will have to remove that, haha
Thank you and Martin Kaufmann so much for publishing that fan replacement piece over at xlr8yourmac. Wow! That's the first thing I'm going to do when I get my 1.25 GHz model. Excellent!
