Sadly enough, I find this Voodoo laptop TOTALLY cool. It is the best looking PC laptop I've ever seen (though it's not a MacBook) and is FAST.

To be honest, I think that they are both hideous. Then again, I'm not a fan of the colorful laptops. I'm in love with the Apple white.

Yeah, I just wish so much that the Macbook had been colored like the clamshell iBook....

    Those things were GREAT.....

And the problem with Apple is that they really no longer offer any customization over hardware appearance. All Apple laptops look the SAME.

No more color choice, even. An extra $150 just for blackness..

Falcon Northwest, on the other hand, gives you any paint job you can think of:

Luckily most of us buy computer for their hardware and performance, not the way they look. Luckily apple has done a good job making a great and good looking laptop.

Well I admit, I do buy based a lot on the aesthetics...

But I of COURSE think about other things....

And HONESTLY don't tell me you buy based on hardware because if you did you wouldn't be a Mac user.

I love Macs, but I at least admit to myself that hardware is NOT their strong point...

    Yup colorware is COOL.

It shouldn't cost extra though, is what I'm saying. I mean, did blue clamshells cost more than green clamshells?

You're right, they operating system is. Consumers by for the look, pro users because it is a good system.

That is simple economics. High demand means they can charge more, as long as people are willing to pay for it.

Sure it is (*a* strong point). See what apple *gets* that most other laptop makers don't (Sony is perhaps an exception), is that laptops are about mobility. So, no Apple doesn't have a humongous "gaming" laptop. because if you need that you buy a desktop. If you build or buy a laptop for that kind of purpose you are getting ripped off because you could get the same system in a desktop for much less (or a much better system for the same). Laptops are made for mobility and Apples offer the best compromise between Power and still being mobile.

Well Voodoo builds like bricks, true, but not Alienware:

And let's not ARGUE, cuz remember, I agree with you.

    I'm a Mac user, remember?

I just think that these certain PCs are pretty cool, too.

But, yes I'm buying a new MacBook, not a Sentia.

    Agreed.

The links to alienware.com are blocked here at work so I can't see what you mean unfortunately. However, my point is if I was to dream of buying an alienware or Voodoo machine, it would be one of their desktops to get the biggest bang for the buck, and not waste money on a more expensive laptop (more expensive because it's many times more difficult to design) that doesn't do laptop-ing well anyway. (But then I could just build as good of a desktop machine as they sell for cheaper myself anyway, but that's just me)

Yeah I agree with you: if I want a desktop, I'd just build my own. Laptops are much harder to build, so I purchase these.

Apple's software is LIGHTYEARS ahead of PCs. Windows sucks and we all know it. And iWork is better than Office. Etc.

But I must say that Apple's hardware is not on par with the rest of the industry. But I buy it anyway because its software is GREAT (OSX rocks my SOCKS) and I like the minimalistic design.

But it just makes me happy every once in awhile when I see a PC that actually looks decent. Alienware, Falcon northwest, and Voodoo are pretty much the ONLY three who have any sort of aesthetic design department.

I've never understood why more people don't make their computers look good; it's a huge selling point, and how hard can it BE?

(btw, here are some images of an alienware sentia not affiliated with their site, so they shouldn't be blocked:

    aren't internet censorship thingies a PAIN? \ )

yes, especially since my MacBook shipped from mainland China and Apple is dealing with sweatshop conditions with at least one of its suppliers (iPod).
