Here's what I think. 2003 new processors arrive for the Mac. The new processors will need a new motherboard. They will enhance the 4x to 8x. ATI will release the 9700 the same day as the new powermacs. Mac OS X 10.2.2 will be released and prices will drop $200 on every model of PowerMac.

Even if this card will be AGP 8X she is still AGP 4 x compatible. AGP 8 x will not arrive until the release of a new mobo.

Radeon 9000 Pro Mac Edition ?available soon? | September 23, 2002

    By Peter Cohen

The Mac version of ATI?s Radeon 9000 Pro graphics card has been shipping in the Power Mac G4 since July, but Digit has learned that ATI plans to have the Mac retail version of that card available soon.

Positioned as a mainstream graphics card with more power than the inexpensive Radeon 7000 Mac Edition, the Radeon 9000 Mac Edition comes equipped with an AGP interface and 64MB of DDR RAM. It?s also the first ATI retail graphics card to feature an ADC interface, making it possible to attach an Apple Studio or Cinema Display without needing a bulky and expensive ADC to DVI connector.

The Radeon 900 Mac Edition also features a second monitor connector ? a DVI interface ? that can be used to drive a second digital flat-panel display. ATI will also include a DVI to VGA adapter for analog or CRT displays.

Although Apple ships an OEM version of the Radeon 9000 Pro card in its Power Mac G4 systems and it?s been shipping in the PC market for a while, the Mac version of the card has thus far been unavailable.

ATI Mac product manager Stan Ossias told Digit that his company anticipates the release of the Radeon 9000 Mac Edition card within the next few weeks.

My bad. Somehow I confused 9000 with this 9700 string. Would the forum leader please delete my two posts.

This is a URL to the 9000 pages. Not 9700.
