No ZFS for Leopard: According to WWDC Banners!!!
According to the Zettabyte file system entry in wikipedia, there will be no ZFS is Leopard. Mainly because ZFS is a 128 bit system, and the latest posters from WWDC showed the recently MIA 64 bit logo. this is just what i understand from the entry....am i right?
ZFS is a 128-bit file system, which means it can store 18 billion billion (18 quintillion) times more data than current 64-bit systems. The limitations of ZFS are designed to be so large that they will never be encountered in practice. Project leader Bonwick said, "Populating 128-bit file systems would exceed the quantum limits of earth-based storage. You couldn't fill a 128-bit storage pool without boiling the oceans.

The silence of the yea's is deafening.
Please make sure you didn't forget your clue before driving the bit bus.
i really wasn't sure....thanks for that info
so that when they do announce it i don't yell: heresy!!!!!.....lol
Welcome ZFS, Really!!!
The bitness of the CPU is completely immaterial. Do you actually think ANYONE has a 128 bit native integer sized CPU shipping???

Yup. Intel as well as AMD... SSE2/3 can handle 128 bit integers natively.

omfg that's hilarious, next you'll be telling me that we'll have to wait a few decades to use graphics cards with the 256-bit memory interface that's been in most of them since 2004

this post was to clarify a doubt of terminology...obviously you don't understand that....

Sorry, but it was nothing of the kind...
Subject: No ZFS for Leopard: According to WWDC Banners!!!
Note, not one, not two, but THREE exclamation points. They indicate a sense of urgency and certainty in your statement.
Subject: No ZFS for Leopard? (According to WWDC Banners)
Note skillfully placed question-mark that indicates you are NOT sure and therefore asking for a clarification of your specific interpretation of things. Do we REALLY need to explain all this? (silly question since it's quite clear we do)

Oh yea sure.... Bonwick sounds just like Gates when he said nobody would EVER need more than 640k of RAM.
"You couldn't fill a 128-bit storage pool without boiling the oceans"
Never under estimate the amount of porn one can accumulate over a lifetime.

Good that's something I usually try an avoid at all costs since it makes the fish grumpy.
I got a million of em!

thanks for the advice on posting...(in a non-sarcastic manner)

More like Subject: Noobie question about bits, can somebody clarify this for me?
