OSX install log - is there such a thing?

I'm trying to install 10.3 on my old iMac. Install fails with an error message and suggests to try again. So I tried again and it fails in exactly same place - almost finished.

Is there an install log? If there is how can I access it? I'd love to know why it doesn't finalise the installation.

    Maybe your disc is scratched?

Don't think so. In very beginning of installation it successfully passes "checking installation disk". My guess is this is the check of installation media, am I wrong?

You can have a log during installation. Cmd-L, then Cmd-3 (or 2 or 1 for less verbose).
