Exact directions for installing an additional HD

Does anyone know of an article on line that tells you exactly how to install an additional hard drive in a Quicksilver 2002 Powermac?

    How about adding a second hard drive?





    I'm adding a 120Gb HD on a DP 867, is there anywhere that explains the process as far as software setup(Slave/Master) do I have to install the OS if it's going to be for Video storage?



    Any help would be appreciated!

    I thought u always left the boot drive set up as master and the 2nd as slave. You will have to contact the drive manufacturer for the jumper settings.

    Western Digital Caviar Special Edition HD's are the sweetest.

    8 mb of cache is hard to pass up

    Its not a quicksilver, but has anybody else tried to install a second drive in one of the new PMs by following the directions in the manual? Apple completely forgot to mention a screw that you have to remove. They'll tell you to pull this tab and move the assembly this way and hold it like this so you can disconnect the power and data cables - but they neglect to mention the screw that you have to remove to do any of the above. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

    Sure: the manual that came w/ your PM: "Setting Up Your PowerMac G4".



    Pages 73, 74, & 80 are very clear that any drive you add must be set up for cable select mode...'course, someone over @ MacNN sez Apple tech support told him to put his new drive on an empty controller & set it & the original to "master". :eek:



    Sounds like someone needs to get their story straight!

    I guess they changed the manual at some point, on page 73 mine says Your Macintosh doesn't work with Ultra ATA devices set for cable select mode !

    Yeah, they changed it for the new DDR-PMs - he's installing into a 2x867.
