iMac 17" CD tray still hit keyboard?

I know this is the case on my 15" iMac, where the CD/DVD tray is occasionally blocked by the keyboard upon ejecting.

I think the 17" base is slightly bigger and wondered if Apple perhaps raised the height of the tray slightly to address this minor design flaw.

I don't know what planet you're using your iMac on, but even when I slide my keyboard flush with the front of my iMac, there's still about a half-inch of clearance above before the CD tray would hit it.

No, the bases are exactly the same size. In fact, mechanically everything is exactly the same except for the actual display unit itself.

do you have your keyboard raised up johnny? i would see how that could make a difference. i'll go check out our 17" iMac, brb.

the cd tray itself doesn't hit, but he white cover that flips out will hit it.

The cover will flip out and hit the keyboard only if you have it raised up... but I'm not sure why anyone would want to use the keyboard that close to the base anyway.

It is annoying. I use mine new 17" widescreen!!!!!!!!!! (hahahhaa, got it this weekend and its sweet) in the kitchen. Its my morning computer and the cd tray does hit the keyboard. I'm using on the countertop so space is limited. I had to angle it to make it work. It sweet, it sits up under my cabinets and I glide the screen from under.

I think this computer has to be one of the most amazing designs I have ever seen. Its almost perfect, except for the cd/dvd tray.

Uhmm...earth to Johnny, earth to Johnny... And actually, it still hits the keyboard when it's not raised up.

I don't normally use the keyboard that close to the base. I have a small desk and occasionally when I access the drive, the keyboard happens to be up against the base.

Like I said, minor quibble, but one which Apple could easily address in the next rev.

Well, if you want to get technical, the specification differences (graphics card, hd, etc) are mechanical differences..

But yeah. This is such a pressing issue. I refuse to buy my 17" iMac until they fix this!

Seriously though, I'm holding out for bigger iMacs. 19" would be nice.

oooo slot loading imacs would look slick but then people would just complain about the ejecting disk hitting the keyboard plus with slot loading you tend to get more fingerprints on your cds.

What I want are data crystals like they have on babalon-5
