Apple RAM issue

I have a DP 867 w/512 megs of Apple supplied RAM.

I looked at the actual stick and then looked up the part number on it.

The company is Hynix and the PDF describes it as being a 256 mb stick... but the Apple Profiler says there 512 in the system.

The Apple rep said its a part number issue but the RAM that is in there is the newest and fastest that is available.... just wondering if anyone else has checked up on the RAM like this...

Has anyone ever ordered RAM from Hynix who actually makes it for Apple?

I don't think Hynix sells RAM retail, so you couldn't order it directly from them.

make sure not to mistake megabits with megabytes.

And if the profiler says its 512MB, it IS 512MB, don't worry.

The PDF I'm referring to is the one that comes up when you type in the part number for the RAM stick.

It's a very detailed 33 page pdf. Most of it I have no idea what it's saying.

So you got a new PM with 512M of RAM from apple. Are you sure they didn't just put 2 - 256 MEG sticks in there? Check the slots again.

Also, if not, post the item # from the ram & the website so we can check it out & give you some subjective feedback.
