This seems to be fairly new. I just found it on Anands. I should have looked earlier, but that's how it is!

Hope this helps some people, and I also hope that by the time I buy my Mac Pro in January, Apple will have supplied these themselves.

If the link to Apple is out, for the reasons given on the page, then this one, from one of the posters on Anands should work. They are calling this a "simple" fix, and for some, it will be. But it does seem to work.

It is also cool that you can upgrade the processors (from the same anandtech link) - not very cost efficient right now, though, since the 3 GHz chips are $1000 each on newegg.com.

I'm not used to that here. I'm not sure I could take it.

Pretty old news on the Macrumors forums. You know, the one that's actually frequented by people.

I get my Mac Pro tomorrow, I'll be installing Windows then.

This is a newer one. The old one was much more complex, and didn't always work.

Nope, it's been out for a while. I remember hearing about it a week and a half ago. Now it's been mirrored onto half a dozen sites though, that's what might be confusing you.

Original post with link to the original .Mac site with the procedure. The site doesn't work now (bandwidth limit reached) but is was the original set of instructions.

Ok, that's this one. but there is an older one still circulating that's been around for a bit longer, that few people could get working.

It was the first version of the software method mentioned here, except that it was incredibly complex. I saw it first on Anand where a poster sent it in, but of course, I can't find it now. It popped up elsewhere as well.
