No OS9 with new iBooks?

in Current Mac Hardware edited January 2014
Just noticed in the applestore that there's no OS 9 listed in software, just Jaguar. Is it true, new owners?

Does this mean that these iBooks won't be able to boot into 9 as said the new hardware would be next year?

Doesn't matter to me, but thought this should be mentioned...

It says at the Apple Store online that OS 9 is installed on the machiens. This is the last update that will have OS 9 though.

Let's get this right. OS 9 is going to be on Macs for a while. While booted into OS X, you will still be able to use older apps through Classic mode. This uses OS 9.

The big difference in January is that the machines will not be able to boot into OS 9, but it WILL still be there for Classic mode.

The new Power Macs don't come with OS 9 CDs so it seems like the more recent machines from Apple don't ship with an OS 9 CD. It's installed on the iBooks though, so you can still boot up from 9.

And the only way to reinstall is either do a restore or use a retail OS 9 CD.

OS 9.2.2 is burried in a restore CD as an install package. I wonder if being able to boot into OS 9.2.2 is a psychological reason to buy one of these last 9 bootable Macs somewhere. But then I remember how many of these will be around when the next refresh hits and the price goes even further down. Or perhaps their value will hold because ofthe 9 booting capability. Maybe that makes the current lineup more valuable later than it would appear now.
