Does Office X work on the Intel Macs?

I'm about to get a Macbook or Macbook Pro and I was hoping that I could get by with Word 10.1.6 until the UB version arrives. Anyone got it working?

    Office v.X should work, but I really recommend Office 2004 instead. FWIW, an updater which will take you up to Office v.X 10.1.7 is available.

    Thanks for the link. I use Pages for my home business and only use Office for work that I do in schools and colleges. So I'm hoping that I can get by with the older version until the UB release. If I can't, at least I get the Education discount
