Proof that PBG4 1Ghz G4 is NOT 7455

My friend Mihai got his today.



He ran some programs that test the G4 (forgot the names) and then returned "undefined." The program claims to know the identities of every G4 to date, including the 7455.



First impressions: similar case as recent 800Mhz, with the strange pad on the bottom, though it seems to run cooler and the fans kick on less often. Very quick. It's way beyond my 500. Runs X very smoothly.

    Could a new motherboard confuse this software. Is it confirmed to work on the new powerbooks?

    The "7455" G4s in the Powerbooks would be just a new rev and would have a new ID key which this CPU checker does not recognize. It's still a 7450 based CPU.

    Gauge Pro identifies it as an "unknown" CPU but indicates revision 3.2, which would be about right for the current 7455 I think.

    Download CHUD Tools 2.5.1. Run MONster or Reggie. They are 7455s.
