Does anyone know what the actual RPM speed is for the stock 30GB Hard Drive that comes in the iBook? Thanks.

Hmm, the spec page for the iBook doesn't seem to say any longer. I wonder if they decided to scrap the speeds from their pages after dumping the 5400 rpm TiBook drive.

It's 4200 rpm as far as I know.

I have a friend who swapped out a 5400rpm drive for the 4200 stock drive and noticed a 33% increase in speed. He also noticed a 33% drop in battery life.

    Stupid engineering trade-offs.
