Formac Flatscreens: please review

Any one own a formac monitor? Either one in the gallery series? They look super nice, and they're way cheaper than Apple's lineup. Also, they claim to be better. They're not as large, though: couple inches smaller.

I do a lot of design work and would like to purchase a nice flatscreen...

So, if you have one, what do you think, and how does it compare to the Cinema Displays?

There is also a post at the end of this thread on MacNN from a user who has a Formac 2010 Gallery and is using it for desktop publishing.

When I get my new PB in the mail, I'm buying a 1740 to run dual monitor with. I've seen them in person, and they don't look as physically good as the Apple Displays, but if you ask me the picture quality is better. They are the best LCDs I've ever seen.

I'm an EE student who does a lot of low level programming, and I have a 3D modeling obsesssion on the side. The Formac displays are the best deals I've seen.

    Thanks everyone...please keep'em coming...

splinemodel: what do you mean by physically? Do you mean the design of the hardware itself?

I'm thinking about getting the gallery 2010 also to hook it up to a new 1 Ghz PB (combo drive, though: already have a Super in my iMac).

Yeah, I mean the actual physical appearance of the plastic hardware. On the formac web site they're made to look really stunning. In person, they aren't. However, they do look nicer than just about every other LCD aside from those made by Apple, and they have a smaller footprint since they don't have a huge pedestal.

The LCD is better than the one use by Apple. The colors are just as good -- if not better, but I can't really tell -- and the refresh rate is much higher.
