how many have tried installing Rockbox on their iPods?

personally i wont be doing it as mine's still within warranty and i dont want to muck about with it. But it looks pretty interesting. Has anyone got first-hand experience with it?

i read that it's a bit of a pain to install it on an Apple-formatted iPod (or an 'AppPod' as ive seen them referred to).

does installing it on an older 5G iPod enable the search function?

and for those who dont know what it is, here's a good place to start:

Your battery doesn't last quite as long.

Other than that, I've been very happy using it.

You can just drag and drop files or data to your iPod just like any USB hard drive.

You don't have to fight with iTunes.

    I'm sorry, but I can't stand iTunes.

    Wait for it to sync.

    Wait for it to update.

You get a graphic Equalizer on the iPod.

    You have more audio settings.

You can change fonts or themes on the iPod.

To me, it just makes the iPod much better.

    That's just my 2 cents.

    Regards,

    Ocriss

If you try it... and don't like it... I was able to successfully restore my Nano using iTune's restore feature.
