Anyone a Canon Printer

So I've been looking at using "compatible" ink cartridges rather than the offically branded Canon ones for my Canon IP8500, cos they are so much cheaper. However is this a case of you get what you pay for, or are they all made in the same factory anyway and Canon just charge you for the branding? Anyone got any thoughts on the matter?

I use Staples brand cartridges with my i9100 with no problems.

They seem to last as long, though I have not formally 'tested' which lasts longer.

The only problem I can think of is that the printer tells you a new cartridge is needed when there's still ink left.

(This can happen with Canon cartridges as well.)

Usually, I override the message twice before I change cartridges.
