the 15" PB still the best...?

Well... sure, so I would love the glowing keyboard and the internal bluetooth. But the TiBook I bought just before christmas STILL seems the best choice.

Maybe I'm in denial, but the 17" is a monster. And the 12" seems just to much like the iBook. Do anyone like those round edges? Is it thicker then the TiBook? If the 12" was widescreen, ultrathin (maybe with an external superdrive), now then I'd be really disapointed right now. But if I was to by a machine right now. It would be the 15" TiBook.

I agree. both the 17" and 12" look great, and the specs on the 17" are fantastic, but it's just too big for me. I wonder if we can expect the TiBook to recieve an update (Bluetooth, FW800 + 802.11g, GeForce) to match the 17" (AlBook?) anytime soon...

I agree, being a new 15" TiBook owner, I still like the model I have. However, I am disapointed that I cannot take advantage of Airport Extreme. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the new card will not work in machines announced anytime prior to today. Bluetooth would have been cool, but not that big if a deal to me (right now).

I would LOVE the glowing keyboard. I am SO tempted to give this machine to my dad (who is still on a PB 1400c! <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" /> ) and gtting the 17" model...I just don't know. It may be too big. And from the pics on the website, the 12" is ugly IMHO.

Typed this post in Safari BTW...GREAT little browser so far!

Nay, bite your tounge, the 12" is certainly not ugly, it's one of the sexiest little (fully functional) computers I've ever seen, quite nice.

Not at all. I put off buying a new TiBook when they were speedbumped, in anticipation of their getting Bluetooth and 802.11g today...but I'm going to go ahead and order one when I get home from work tonight. I'd love the additional features, but don't want a subnotebook or a 17" screen (neither of them would fit snugly in my Brenthaven backpack )...they are great products, but the TiBook is the one for me. The price drop is nice, but the $40 RAM upgrade would have cancelled out most of that difference so I am actually a little annoyed at myself for waiting this long.

I think the only way the Ti could be better is if it had the new case. I don't like the look of the TiBook anymore.

Damn that 12" PowerBook is a hot little number. It's actually smaller and lighter than the iBook - amazing.

And the combo burns CD-R at 24x!! Sweet.

    Just ordered one.

You must also think the iBook 12" is ugly too then. Not much difference between the two really.

So is this new 15 inch powerbook just the old one with better ram or do I miss something?

The pics on Apple's website suck -- they are just renders, not actual photos. Go to this site for some better pictures -- I think the new books look great.

The PowerBook 12" (TinyBook) is excellent looking -- what I dislike is the PowerBook 17" (KongBook) keyboard/speaker layout. Everything else is beautiful. I want the 15" to be updated with the new style, then I'd sell my current 15" for that.

I'm REALLY digging the 12" PowerBook. I don't currently own a desktop system (the last one I bought was a Performa in 1994 when I started college...PRE-PPC chip, yikes!)

I could see myself getting an iMac (down the road after I finish my thesis and get a job in a few months), and also the 12" PowerBook to go along with it as my portable. Its small, with all the oomph of the previous PowerBook revison. I love it!! Now...get those damm IBM chips out there .

you guys are crazy, the 17" PB is not too big, its amazing, and sets a new standard for best when the last one wasn't even broken yet. The 15 would be nice if it was the 17 without the display but its not, its inferior...haha its still amazing though!

what ist he best PC laptop out, i want to compare them but knowing NOTHING about PC laptops have no idea where to look for the fastest and most advanced

The problem with the 15.2" Powerbooks is that they still use the old RAM technology. I'd be willing to put up with the size of the 17" just to get DDR RAM.

I do actually, never really liked it at all.

For those of you who think the 17" is too big, keep in mind, the idea is kind of as a desktop replacement. It would be wonderful for me. I love the portability of a laptop (I have a TiBook 500), but my computer spends most of its time on my desk. The 17 offers many of the ammenities of a desktop, with the convenience of a laptop. (and you gotta love that keyboard.) I want one, but unfortunately it's a little outta my price range.

Oh, and did you like how he specifically mentioned that it was unpainted? (read: it ain't gonna chip and peel this time)

Hey...the 15" PB's WERE updated!!! DDR RAM!! Check out the Apple Store page. So are these new 15" PB's also using the new unpainted Al enclosure?

I dont mind the look of the 17" but perhaps a little big.

One thing I like about the 15" design is that all the ports and stuff are in the back as opposed to the side. Cant stand stuff on the sides!

Wouldnt mind either a 17" or a little 12", its cool!
