You got excited for nothing.

I just received this email from Apple:

To Our Valued Apple Customer:

Thank you for your order for the new 12" notebook! As mentioned in the

MacWorld keynote earlier today, and as our press release stated, the new and

exciting 12" PowerBook is scheduled to ship later this month. Unfortunately,

the first few orders we received picked up the incorrect availability

information and we wanted to quickly update you on the actual lead time of 2-4

weeks. We apologize for any confusion this messaging might have caused.

Please rest assured that we are looking forward to getting the new 12"

PowerBook in your hands as soon as possible. Also, you were one of the first

to order, and this update will not affect your place in line for shipping the

new PowerBook.

If you should have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact us.

If this corrected lead time is not satisfactory, please contact us so we can

suggest a product that may be available sooner, or we will honor your request

to cancel your order at any time prior to shipment.

Thank you for shopping at the Apple Store!

Damn!

They value me so much that I got that email last night.

Say murbot, when configuring my BabyAlBook I saw that Apple wants $150 for a 512MB 266 DDR SO-DIMM. Is it just me, or does this seem halfway reasonable?

Well, for me up in Canada the price was decent enough for me to add it to the order. I haven't even checked pricing on these new RAM chips anywhere, or if they're even readily available...

It's usually a lot higher than that, and I'd like for once to just get the thing loaded up right out of the box.

I received that email as well. I didn't believe the 1-3 days because Steve said available in 2 weeks on stage and he is usually optimistic.

It took me a month or so to get my iBook 500 when I ordered just after the keynote. I expect the same will be true here. Although I ordered without the superdrive so maybe one of the first to ship?

    Can only hope.

Kingston wants US$191 for it. I know Kingston isn't cheap, but I always thought Apple prided itself in having the worst RAM prices in the known world.

Go to <a href="http://www.ramseeker.com"; target="_blank">www.ramseeker.com</a> to start looking. I would think we will find something for about $100.

my suggestion? dont' go cheap on DDR ram. it's not worth the $30 savings. get a name brand, and get one that has hopefully been tested. you'll save yourself a lot of headaches. i've seen more and more generic RAM coming out that's bad, and it will cause a nightmare of problems.

My wife just called me at work to see if someone from Apple had called me. She gave her my work number, and she was going to call me this afternoon about giving me a DISCOUNT!

    Anyone else get a call?

I'll post when I get it.
