I'm about to purchase an Ipod in some form. I've done a good deal of research but still can't decided which is a better value...the G2 Nano or the G5.5. Ipod. Any opions or thoughts?

    Ask yourself a few questions:

    1) Are you really going to use the 5.5 often to watch videos or play games?

    2) How much music do you really listen to each time you are out and how many songs "are enough" to have on your new iPod?

My suggestion would be to go with a 4gb Nano. It has a decent amount of space and it comes in a wider range of colours. The 5.5G iPod is nice if you plan to watch videos or buy and play the games that come with it but it's simply not as small and portable. If your main reason for buying an iPod is to listen to music, go with a Nano. (or wait for the iPhone) lol.

Don't expect a great photo viewing experience on a nano. The screen is really tiny. For me, size and portability was more important than capacity.

I faced the same decision some time ago. And I decided to go all the way and get the 60GB iPod Video. I doubt I'll ever fill it up, because my music library isn't that large, and I probably could have gotten along just fine with a Nano, or even a 30GB. But it's wonderful to know that I'll probably never run out of room. The large screen is nice for my eyes, and I can play Solitaire whenever I'm stuck somewhere with nothing to do.

So I guess it's all a matter of preference. What's your budget? And how much music do you expect you'll be storing?

(Oh, and by the way, whatever you choose, buy a case for it. No sense in spending a whole lot of money on something just to bring it home and get it all scratched up, or even broken. I got this one, practically invisible, and it works beautifully. [It also comes sized for the Nano.])

Ok. Another Question....how many hours of music will the 8GB nano hold? I've got a lot of classical music recordings which are going to be longer than the average 3.5 minutes they use to calculate those numbers.
