  • AirPods Pro versus Bose QuietComfort Earbuds: Which are the best true wireless headphones?...

The comparison I want to see is how they compare (fare) under a motorcycle helmet at 70mph. I get that it's not something the vast majority will care about, but it would be a major deciding factor for me.
But other than that, good comparison with an interesting result...
That would be a good stress test. I don't ride a motorcycle, which I've learned from friends is a quick way to lose your hearing, helmet or not, but I have sat on a window seat closest to the turboprop engine on a commuter plane several times and I am always amazed by how well the Bose QC20 performs in those situations. I hate the dongle on the QC20 (especially when used with a lightning adapter) but it's ANC is very impressive considering the QC20s are not in-canal headphones. If Apple's or Bose's wireless buds can perform as well as the QC20 wired buds I'll definitely be in shopping mode.
Have both AirPods Pro and Bose QC20i -- the AirPods Pro ANC is noticeably worse than the QC20i. Bose QuietComfort Earbuds is the one you want, assuming 6 hours + 12 hours in case is good enough for you. QC20i with 16 hour battery life is better for intercontinental flights as no recharging is needed.

  • Editorial: The iPad Air and the iPad mini have always been Apple's best tablets

I'm very disappointed in the Mini 5's memory options. 64 GB is not enough memory for the base configuration. I have the same gripe with the iPhone X and Xs. I realize it's an up-sell gimmick by Apple, but it doesn't make it any more palatable. Frankly, it looks like a money-grab to wring out the last few dollars of profitability. For the record, I'm an Apple shareholder and want the company to be profitable. I also want them to give the best value possible to the tens of millions of users of these devices, and being chintzy with memory in the new Mini and existing X/Xs isn't the way to to do it.

The base configuration should be 128 GB, on all devices, including the Mini and X/Xs. Considering the price being charged for them, the difference in added expense to Apple would be minimal, and it would go a long way to justifying the more expensive prices.

So today I'm speaking with my wallet. I would have upgraded my wife's iPad Mini 4 yesterday if it wasn't for this issue. I'll wait it out for Amazon, B&H or Adorama to put it on sale, or get a refurbished one when they show up on the Apple website.
Many people who don't store a lot of games and every incoming WhatsApp cat video on their iPhones don't need 128 GB; forcing them to pay for unneeded storage would not be fair. Besides, the ecosystem of almost the majority of iPhone users consists of more than one Apple Device: consider the Watch, the AirPods, the iPad, the Mac computers, the Apple TV... Since their digital life is not limited to only one smartphone, a more granular control over their purchase power is an added bonus Apple provides to them when setting price points.

If you disregard these facts, then you're investing on wrong stock...
The iPad Mini 4 base storage was 16 GB when launched. So Apple has increased the iPad Mini 5 base storage by 4 times, to 64 GB. It's been 3 1/2 years since the iPad Mini 4 so we expect some increase over time and they did. My iPad Mini 4 is currently using 41 GB, so 64 GB would be enough today, but when I upgrade to the 5 I'll get the 256 GB option for $150 more. It's worth it if you need it. And then you have the best 8-inch tablet made with max capacity for $549 which is still reasonable compared to past maxed out iPads costing $1,000.

At $499 vs $329 for the bigger iPad, I don't really see what the point of this is, aside from some barely noticeable CPU speed bumps vs the bigger one. Since you probably own an iPhone anyway, you could just get an iPhone 12/13 Plus for $200 more when you next upgrade, saving ~$200 (or $350 if you need cellular), have just one device rather than two, and you're not that far off iPad mini display size. The only major disadvantage is no pencil on iPhone.
The mini is better for general aviation and fits on a knee board better with less/no impediment to the motion of the control stick between or above one's legs.  I've been waiting for this updated version of the mini since the iPad mini 3 and use it primarily with Foreflight.

Here's the thing -- it's not about you. Some people prefer a smaller tablet. Not a phone, but a tablet. I enjoyed a mini for many years and preferred it over larger sizes.
You don't say. That's why we're here isn't it? To discuss? I was wondering what the point of the mini is vs a bigger phone, and if people prefer a small tablet over a bigger phone, why is that? Genuinely curious, but of course all you can do is attack, rather than provide reasons, because that's all you're capable of doing.
The bigger phone is still smaller than the mini. I like having a smaller iPad for travel and commute. I don’t need a huge phone. This is the best of both worlds.
    Fair points, thanks!
If you go to the App Store in the app Preview section, developers do not have to but often offer different versions of their apps optimized for iPhone, iPad App, Watch, etc. The iPad App versions typically have a richer and more usable interface for the larger screen size, which the iPad mini takes advantage of. So for travel and public transportation I carry both a regular size iPhone and iPad mini, which is also my favorite iPad for the small size and weight, and is more productive than an iPhone for many apps.
